The Fairfax is bringing sexy back to Capitol Hill

The Fairfax is bringing sexy back to Capitol Hill in 2015. Let’s face it there has not been much as far as hot new listings on the hill for couple of months now. That’s not to say there are not some great properties on the market right now because there are. But this new listing brought on by Steve Gorecki at Windermere R.E.N.W. at $392,800 is in it’s own category of fabulous. The Fairfax is one of Capitol Hill’s golden treasures and it’s even more special because units in this charming 14 unit building don’t come on the market very often.

She's a stately beauty. Built in 1923, the Fairfax Apartments aI have driven past this building hundreds of times over the years and have barely noticed this amazing structure. It has a simple classic design that you don’t really appreciate until it is called to your attention. Although it sits right on bustling 10th avenue it is nestled behind a public parking strip that comes in handy since this building has no deeded parking. This little buffer provides residents of the building with an extra layer of security and privacy.

As I passed through the entryway my eyes were immediately drawn to the beautifully renovated kitchen perched on a elevated platform. The stunning cabinets and high-end appliances are masterfully framed by the exposed brick wall. This kitchen is full of luxuries that are often found only in high end homes. Heated floors and a pot filling faucet above the stove add the professional touches you would not expect to find in a condo in this price-point. Not to mention this kitchen comes with its own small work of art. The light fixture was decorated by famed artist Cassandria Blackmore during her time living here. The units owner dared me to google her and I did. She’s right Cassandria is kind of a big deal. I would hold on to that piece forever.

The living space in this unit is remarkable in layout and comfort level. It is difficult to find units on Capitol Hill that offer this much light, but also maintain a strong sense of privacy. This is largely due to the fact that much of the light shines in from the skylights dispersed throughout the unit. East and south facing windows only add to the illumination. One of my favorite things about the living space is that everywhere you look is this beautiful brick wall. It so amazing that it was not painted or plastered over during the last sixty plus years the building has been around.

Ammenities?  You would not think so in a building built in the forties. This unit shares private access to the rooftop deck and a sauna with just one other unit in the building. And hello, Volunteer Park which is one of the greatest parks in the city is located right next door. It has a world class museum, a conservetory, tennis courts, and a outdoor performance arts venue. Let’s not forget that all Broadway has to offer is just blocks away as well.  Vivace and Joe Bar can sooth the jones in your bones for your caffeine fix. Poppy and Rom Mai Thai are here for that international flair when your stomach starts howling to the moon.  Or use that fabulous kitchen and fill it up with goodies from Eat local or the QFC at the Broadway Market.

If you have time to get to Capitol Hill this weekend this is a MUST SEE.  Stop by the open house on Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 and check it out for yourself.  If you can’t make it this weekend free to contact me and I will be happy to set up a time to give you a private showing.
